Who runs Stoop
Stoop is operated by Andrew Dresser as a sole proprietor in New York. If you have a privacy question, email andrewjdresser@gmail.com and a real person will respond.
What we collect
| What | Why we need it |
|---|---|
| Your phone number | To text you and recognize you when you reply. |
| Your kids' first names, ages, and interests | To pick activities they'll actually like. We never share this externally. |
| Your neighborhood or zip code | To find activities nearby. |
| The messages you send and we send you | To keep the conversation going and improve recommendations over time. |
| Which links you tap | To learn what kinds of activities work for your family. |
| Cadence preferences (daily / weekly / etc.) | So we don't text too much or too little. |
That's it. We don't ask for last names, emails (unless you give one), addresses, payment info, or anything else we don't need.
How we use it
- To send you personalized activity recommendations.
- To answer your questions and respond when you text.
- To learn what's working — what activities families act on, what they skip — so future recommendations get better.
- To detect and prevent abuse (spam, scraping, harassment).
Who we share with
We share data only with the services we need to actually run Stoop:
- Twilio and Linq deliver the text messages.
- Amazon Web Services hosts our backend and database.
- OpenAI and Anthropic process the AI prompts that generate Stoop's replies. We send only the message context needed to generate a good response — your phone number is never sent in the prompt body.
- Logfire helps us debug errors and slow requests.
Each of these services is bound by their own privacy commitments. We don't sell your data to anyone, and we don't share it with advertisers or data brokers — full stop.
How long we keep data
We keep your information as long as you're an active Stoop user. If you reply STOP and stay unsubscribed for 90 days, we delete your profile and conversation history (we keep a record that the phone number opted out, so we don't accidentally text you again). You can also email us anytime to delete everything immediately.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can:
- See what we have — email us and we'll send you everything we've stored about you.
- Correct it — text Stoop to update your kids' ages, interests, or neighborhood, or email us for anything else.
- Delete it — reply STOP or email us. We'll erase your data.
- Opt out of texts — reply STOP. That's the whole opt-out flow.
If you live in California, the EU, or another jurisdiction with stronger privacy laws (CCPA, CPRA, GDPR, etc.), the rights above apply to you regardless. We don't "sell" or "share" personal information as those terms are defined under California law.
Kids' information
Stoop is a service for parents, not children. We collect information about kids only because parents tell us — we never collect it directly from a child. We don't knowingly let anyone under 13 sign up, and we don't build profiles on kids beyond what's needed to recommend age-appropriate activities (first name, age, interests, location).
Security
We use industry-standard security: encrypted connections (TLS), encrypted storage in AWS, and no data stored on personal devices. We're a one-person operation, but we take this seriously. If you spot something that looks like a vulnerability, please email us and we'll act on it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in any meaningful way, we'll text or email you before it takes effect. Small clarifications might happen without notice.
